Happy July 1st, 2015!

I hope this finds you all so well and enjoying some sense of fullness – purna – that often accompanies a full moon. I felt the auspiciousness of the moment and realized I hadn’t written a blog post since January, high time.

I think of you all, our yoga circle, our sangha, often as life unfolds and inspiration arises:

  • If you are of a certain relaxed and open mind, I highly recommend the movie, Inside Out. For me it was a way to see life, memories, emotions in an engrossing and incredibly creative way. And to hear the great actors’ voices was a joy, too, including Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling, Phyllis Smith and Diane Lane (oh and Frank Oz).
  • Yosemite can be defined as  a series of waterfalls in Yosemite National Park in California, and I had the gift of hiking it for a week in June with a wonderful tribe of women. We call ourselves the Cycling Sisters because when we were mothers of young ones and all living in Indiana we’d hire a sitter (or two) for all our kids and go bike riding around the countryside. Year later (dare I say decades later) we meetup when we can and this trip was simply a blessing.

    Glacier Point Trail

We saw a black bear on the Glacier Point Trail (who was actually a lovely ginger brown color) and hiked to the top of Yosemite Upper Falls. We also celebrated a birthday in Petaluma, CA, the bday girl’s abode and saw this sign on the cafe board:artLocalAllLocal

  • Great news from my Publisher that Vital Yoga: A Sourcebook for Students and Teachers will be available in French and Italian. If you are a fan of the book and have the time and energy, I’d really appreciate a review on Amazon.
  • Such smart and savvy people at the local nursery and garden center, Rehm’s. When I asked what other combinations of plants are good for gardens (I knew about tomatoes and marigolds) I was pointed to dill. The wise worker said insects gravitate preferentially toward dill and away from other plants. And I have proof of that: A caterpillar on the dill and the tomato plants just fine! caterpillarOnDill
  • The tomatoes are beginning to show their beautiful purple faces:heirloomTomatoes
  • Yoga yoga everywhere…yoga so continues to feed me as mantra, as poses and meditation. And on the trail, gotta open that heart (this is the top of Illilouette Falls)bbYosemite

My web project for FreeCodeCamp is almost done and so, I am looking for web work. If you know of anyone who needs a web developer, I’d appreciate a nod.

The end of July offers us that second or blue moon. Please enjoy your moments, take a deep breath, give yourself a hug, and try lifting the corners of your mouth.

Sending love and fullness to all around,

Thank you, Meta, for this beautiful account of your hike through one of my favorite places, and your reminder at the end to breathe, give myself a hug, and try lifting the corners of my mouth! Just what I needed this morning as I begin another day of job searching after an abrupt and unexpected loss of job … I am blessed in many ways, and have few worries, yet must push on and find a way to make a living. Yoga, and reminding myself of who I am, and my worth, independent of all material things, are powerful tools. Thanks for the gentle reminders. I still remember the workshop you led at Serendipity here in Indiana several years ago. Peace.
